LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – May 17, 2010 –
Love, politics and loyalty collide in the “impressively gargantuan, highly watchable Chinese battle epic” (Village Voice) The Warlords, arriving on Blu-ray Disc™ and DVD June 29 from Magnolia Home Entertainment under the
Magnet Releasing label.  Part of the Six Shooter Film Series, a collection of six high-quality films that aims to bring fans a mix of the most intelligent, genre-bending titles available, the “tale of noble brotherhood compromised by self-interest and a messy love triangle” (Philadelphia Inquirer) stars Jet Li (The Mummy 3, Hero), Andy Lau
(House Of Flying Daggers) and Takeshi Kaneshiro (Red Cliff, House Of Flying Daggers).  The “emotionally powerful” (Variety) and sweeping drama was a massive critical and commercial success in China, as well as one of the most ambitious productions in the history of modern Chinese cinema.

“Epic in scope but intimate in theme” the magnificently engrossing film set in the midst of war and political upheaval during the Taiping Rebellion of the 1860s “heaves with spectacular battles and the relentless sway of self-interest over conscience”
(New York Times).  “A visually stunning blood and guts epic” that is “a triumph from start to finish,” (Daily Mirror), The Warlords tells the story of General Pang (Li), a battalion commander who barely survives a brutal massacre that leaves all of his fellow soldiers dead. Pang joins a passing group of bandits led by Er Hu (Lau) and Wu Yang (Kaneshiro) and aids them in defending a helpless village from attackers.  After swearing an oath to become “blood brothers,” pledging loyalty to one another until death, Pang convinces his brothers to join him in the army to earn an honest living.  Soon, the once-close trio become entangled in a web of political deceit and lovers’ betrayals.  Featuring a production journal and deleted scenes, The Warlords Blu-ray Disc and DVD will be available for the suggested retail prices of $29.98 and $26.98, respectively.
