A six-time award winning epic that “scales the heights” (Variety), legendary action-cinema master John Woo’s RED CLIFF debuts on Blu-ray Disc and DVD
March 23 as a two-disc Original International Version featuring Red Cliff films Part I and Part II, totaling close to five hours, and a U.S. Theatrical Version from Magnolia Home Entertainment’s Magnet Releasing label.  “A formidable prelude to a monumental battle with resplendent effects and action spectacles” (Hollywood Reporter), RED CLIFF reunites Woo (Mission Impossible II, Paycheck) and international superstar Tony Leung (Lust, Infernal Affairs), for the first time since
Hard Boiled, in an ancient struggle that heralded the end of the Han Dynasty.  Set in 208 A.D., the Han Dynasty Emperor grants permission to the greedy General Cao Cao to form a movement that will pulverize two warlords who stand in his way.  The warlords, Liu Bei and Sun Quan, are sworn enemies, but know their only hope for survival is to band together and counter the attack.  Outnumbered by Cao Cao’s vast and fast approaching army, the warlords put their rivalry behind them and end up surprising all those who doubted their small brigade.  Featuring performances from Takeshi Kaneshiro (House of Flying Daggers) and Chen Chang (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), the film is “a legendary filmmaker’s visual symphony” (Wall Street Journal) with “spectacular battle scenes” (Entertainment Weekly).

One of the most expensive film productions in Chinese cinema and the highest grossing box office, RED CLIFF garnered six 2009 Hong Kong Film Awards including Best Art Direction, Best Costume & Make-Up Design, Best Visual Effects and Best Supporting Actress. The Original International Version Blu-ray Disc presents the complete five hour long feature film broken into Part I and Part II, includes a two and a half hour long ‘The Making of Red Cliff: The Long Road,’ ‘A Conversation with John Woo: The Journey of Red Cliff’ in addition to much more, and will be available for the suggested retail price of $34.98 and $29.98 on DVD.  A standard edition featuring the domestic theatrical cut and HDNet: A Look at Red Cliff, and more, will be available on Blu-ray Disc and DVD for $29.98 and $26.98 respectively.  A full listing of bonus features can be found below.
