SANTA MONICA, CA – July 30, 2009 – Take a closer look at who belongs at the top of the food chain when Predators debuts on DVD October 27 from Animal Planet and Genius Products.  Containing some of the most dangerous animal encounters captured on film, Predators features three thrilling Animal Planet programs – After The Attack, Up Close And Dangerous and Killer Crocs of Costa Rica – each a testimony to why these animals must be respected.   Providing an intimate look at humans who have experienced and survived horrific animal encounters,
After The Attack explains the post traumatic but triumphant lives of people who have encountered some of the most complex creatures including the great white shark, grizzly bear, mountain lion and the American alligator.  From elephant charges to snake bites, Up Close And Dangerous details the bravery of professional wildlife filmmakers and their commitment to getting the perfect shot, regardless of the price.  Journeying to the breath-taking shores of
Central America, Killer Crocs of Costa Rica details the life of an American crocodile raising her young in the spectacular coastal rainforest.  A fascinating look into the wild kingdom, Predators will be available on DVD for the suggested retail price of $14.95.

Synopsis:
Explore the post-traumatic but triumphant lives of people who have survived animal confrontations in After The Attack; follow wildlife filmmakers’ dangerous encounters with wild animals in Up Close And Dangerous; and in Killer Crocs Of Costa Rica, follow the life of a female crocodile and her young through the most dramatic event in their lives - mating, birth and growing up.

Episodes:
After The Attack - Host Dave Salmoni introduces viewers to four survivors and learns the details of their most deadly encounters.  Aided by a team of animal and behavioral experts, Salmoni probes the human and animal stories behind each animal attack.  Each victim is encouraged to use their experience to re-examine his or her life and face down their fears -- all from a pro-animal, pro-conservation perspective.
  • Anne Hjelle was 29 when she was mountain biking in Whiting Wilderness Park in Orange County and was attacked by a 130-pound mountain lion.  Fortunately her friend was right behind her and was able to save her life.
  • Denton Turner, an avid bird watcher and outdoorsman, was 19 while working at Yellowstone National Park for the summer.  When he surprised a female grizzly and her cubs, the female immediately charged and mauled him, though he lived to tell his horrifying story.
  • Shannon Ainslie, a young South African surfer, was 15 when he was attacked by two great white sharks off East London, South Africa.  Caught on tape, Ainslie miraculously ended up with a serious hand wound, but got away with his life.
  • Rick Cabot, a pastor from Lutz, Florida was an athletic 51-year old when he dove off of his dock to take a swim while training for a triathlon.  A six foot American alligator clamped onto his leg and pulled him under.  Rick was able to fight the alligator off and swim to shore.
Up Close And Dangerous - Frequently, cameramen and women, sound operators, directors, producers and television hosts risk their lives getting up close and personal to capture stunning images of the wild and sometimes nature strikes back.  In exclusive interviews, some of the world’s top wildlife filmmakers tell their stories and share terrifying footage of shoots gone wrong - describing how and why the incidents happened, the emotions they felt at the time, how they used their skill and experience to survive, and ultimately how they gained even more respect for the creatures they work with so closely.

Killer Crocs Of Costa Rica - Costa Rica is home to an exotic and extraordinary collection of wildlife with the American crocodile as the prominent predators of the Pacific coastal eco-system.  This one-hour documentary follows the life of a female crocodile and her young through the most dramatic event in their lives – mating, birth and growing up.
